News: Largest planned wind farm to go ahead
Renewable Energy deal made in North Lincolnshire
The acquisition of a major wind park in North Lincolnshire has been obtained from Renewable Energy Sources Systems Group - Scottish and Southern Energy plc.
Keadby wind farm, located near the centre of the SSE Keadby, is already in the planning approval stages to build 34 turbines.
After a final investment decision, the working wind farm will start in late 2011 and will expire in early 2014, the SSE said.
Once completed, a capacity of 68 MW will be installed between 85MW, creating enough energy to power equivalent to between 38,000 and 47,000 homes in Britain.
Keadby, which is the largest consented wind farm in England, has agreed to SSE first wind farm in the country.
Director of Finance SSE, Gregory Alexander, said: "We said that we will continue the purchases and sales to optimize our portfolio of wind farms in the United Kingdom and the acquisition of Keadby wind farm, which is the SSE first approval wind farm in England, and is entirely consistent with our objective.
