UK urged to increase green housing, said HBF
The United Kingdom will increase housing to meet growing demand, Home Builders Federation (HBF) said.
Steve Turner, head of communications for the professional association called the Chancellor George Osborne to support the construction industry of housing when he announced the budget on March 23, noting that the government recognizes the need for housing.
"We want to see in the budget, allowing the construction of more homes of all types, including the eco houses", he said. "We need to see decisions made in the form of the new planning system, we need to see measures to free up public lands and initiatives to help first time buyers and people who can not get mortgages. "
Research by the Institute for Public Policy Research has indicated that housing demand could exceed supply by about 750,000 households in 2025.
It is anticipated that Mr. Osborne could include measures to promote home energy efficiency, reduction of VAT on energy efficiency measures or the stamp duty and local taxes even lower for owners to make green improvements on their homes.
