News: Abattoirs losing profit in lost weight
Abattoir chill down process needs refining through proper humidification
Having worked with a number of abattoirs, we have noticed particular problems when it comes to reducing the moisture lost through evaporation in a poorly conditioned chiller.
To use the example of chilling a pig, we have seen chillers where over 3% of weight is lost through improper ventilation, over crowding the chiller and not adding enough humidity to the air. This could be prevented through and subsequent loss of profit be returned.
By adding a simple humidification system to the chiller, and increasing the relative humidity whilst this chill down process is taking place, the pig will retain the moisture that would normally be lost through the process of evaporation.
The result of installing a specially selected humidification system would be that moisture is retained, and profits are therefore maintained through this process.
The need for proper ventilation, full working refrigeration system and enough space for the animals to hang are paramount to keeping the weight in the pig, and with added humidity abattoir managers can maintain higher profits, and minimise waste.
We are available for site visits, consultation and specifying for such humidification systems, and we also work alongside high profile refrigeration companies to ensure our customers receive the best solution to the weight loss issue happening in abattoirs right now.
Feel free to call us today to arrange a site visit or consultation.
